Zinc "Silver Rock" Padlocks

Zinc is one of the newest materials to come to the padlock market. It conjures up images of a soft flexible metal from chemistry class at school or something sacrificial that corrodes easily, used on boat engines and ships. However, this can't be further from the truth in the padlock market. ABUS has developed a special type of Zinc  which gives excellent all round performance and balance between weight, strength, security and weather resistance.

Zinc "Silver Rock" Padlocks FAQs

ABUS has manufactured padlocks since 1923 and operates in-house test facilities for mechanical strength and corrosion. Silver Rock padlocks have been evaluated for day-to-day durability before release.

Silver Rock models are not certified to standards such as CEN, BS EN 12320, or Sold Secure. They are intended for medium risk applications. If your policy specifies a rating, choose a padlock with the required certification.

In some sizes there is overlap in key profiles that allows certain ABUS brass padlocks and Silver Rock 5 of the same body width to run on the same keyed alike code. This is size dependent. Check the product notes or contact us for confirmation.

Silver Rock offers robust weather performance with a solid feel and good value. It sits between Titalium and steel in weight and attack resistance and is a sensible upgrade from generic brass for medium duty use.
