Keyed Alike Padlocks

Keyed Alike padlocks, also known as "same key" or "suited" padlocks, is when one key fits all the padlocks in a set. This doesn't mean that anyone else who buys the same keyed alike padlock as you has the same key. There are many different key variations in circulation. It is important to note that we record the key number of your set which means you can order more padlocks in the future with the same key.

Keyed Alike Padlocks FAQs

Yes, Keyed Alike padlocks are secure for most everyday uses. They offer slightly fewer key variations than “Keyed Different” locks, but 95% of padlock attacks involve physical force, not key manipulation. Each manufacturer uses unique key profiles, making random key attacks extremely unlikely.

For sensitive environments, we also offer Restricted Key Padlocks, which use exclusive key profiles to prevent unauthorised duplication.

No. Keyed Alike padlocks must come from the same brand and product range. Each manufacturer uses a unique keyway shape, so an ABUS padlock cannot be keyed alike with a Federal padlock.

Yes, for certain models. If you already use ABUS or Papaiz padlocks, you can send us a pattern key, and we can supply additional padlocks keyed to match. Compatibility depends on the model and availability, so please contact our team for confirmation.

Yes. When you order from Padlocks.co.uk, we securely record your key number, allowing you to reorder matching padlocks or keys at any time — even years later. This ensures consistency across your security setup.

Yes. You can order multiple sets, or “suites,” where each group of padlocks shares one key, but each suite has a unique key. This is common in large facilities and infrastructure projects where different teams need separate access.

We supply Keyed Alike padlocks in various materials and sizes, including brass, stainless steel, laminated steel, and marine-grade alloys. This allows you to choose the right balance of strength, corrosion resistance, and cost for your environment.

We are a dedicated padlock specialist, not a general retailer. We hold and manage our own stock in a UK warehouse, meaning we control the entire keying process — from suite creation to record keeping. Unlike drop-shippers, we rotate and track key ranges internally, reducing duplication risk and ensuring traceable key management.
