ABUS Titalium Padlocks

In the last 2 years the padlock industry has been shaken up with the shortage and increased cost of copper which is the main ingredient of Brass. Brass padlocks have until now been the standard for a low-medium security lock.

ABUS have now developed a new alloy called Titalium. This consists of both aluminium and titanium in just the right quantities to be both light in weight, strong and highly weatherproof.

Frequently Asked Questions

ABUS Titalium Padlocks FAQs

Yes. Though the body is made of aluminium-titanium alloy, the shackle is hardened steel, offering the same cut and load resistance as in heavier locks.

No. The aluminium/titanium alloy is non-rusting, and selected to remain chemically stable with steel components, reducing galvanic reaction risk. However, Titalium padlocks are not classified as marine grade, so they may perform less robustly in saltwater environments than dedicated marine models.

In some cases, it can be. Due to evolving material markets and supply pressures on copper (used in brass), ABUS positions Titalium as a cost-competitive yet high-performing alternative to brass.

Padlocks.co.uk stocks genuine ABUS Titalium padlocks, tested by Nothing But Padlocks for corrosion resistance, mechanical integrity, and long-term reliability. As materials shift in the industry, we support both brass and Titalium lines and can advise you on the best material fit for your environment.
