Heavy Duty Alarm Padlocks

Alarm padlocks feature a built-in siren module that activates when the lock detects vibration or movement. The shackle is inserted in one of two positions - one enables the alarm, the other leaves it inactive. When armed, any significant movement triggers the alarm, which sounds for approximately 10 seconds before automatically resetting.

Most alarm padlocks produce a sound level of around 100 decibels, roughly equivalent to a car horn at close range. This is loud enough to startle a thief and attract attention from nearby people, acting as a strong deterrent even before physical attack occurs.

Not fully. While many manufacturers describe their alarm padlocks as “weather-resistant,” the internal electronics can corrode if exposed to prolonged rain or moisture. An occasional splash or shower is fine, but for constant outdoor use, we recommend placing the lock under cover or choosing a fully weatherproof standard padlock for long-term exposure.

Yes, in some cases. If the padlock moves or vibrates due to strong wind or nearby movement, the sensor may trigger the alarm. You can prevent false alarms by locking the padlock securely against a stable object or deactivating the alarm when conditions are particularly windy.

Yes. Most alarm padlocks allow you to choose whether the siren is armed or not.
Insert the shackle one way to activate the alarm (a short beep will confirm it’s armed) or the other way to use the lock in standard mode without sound. This makes them suitable for both high-risk areas and everyday locking needs.

Alarm padlocks are highly versatile and can be used on:
- Bicycles and scooters
- Garden furniture or statues
- Construction tools and machinery
- Sheds, gates, and storage boxes
- Wheelie bins or outdoor equipment

They’re especially useful for temporary or mobile setups, where the visual and audible deterrent adds extra peace of mind.
