Zinc is one of the newest materials to come to the padlock market. It conjures up images of a soft flexible metal from chemistry class at school or something sacrificial that corrodes easily, used on boat engines and ships. However, this can't be further from the truth in the padlock market. ABUS has developed a special type of Zinc which gives excellent all round performance and balance between weight, strength, security and weather resistance.

ABUS have been making padlocks since 1923 and have extensive research and development departments with testing chambers to speed up the weather process of padlocks and put them through rigorous strength tests.

These guys would not release a product that they weren't 100% confident in.

If you have been instructed to get a padlock of a particular standard, e.g BSEN12320, CEN3, Sold Secure Bronze, then this item has not been certified to these standards.

It is designed to secure for medium value items as it is stronger and tougher than brass or Titalium padlocks.

There is an overlap in the keyed alike codes to enable certain keyed alike brass padlock keys to work with the Silver Rock 5 so differing levels of security, and shackle length, can be operated by a single key. Please note this only works for like width padlocks, e.g 40mm or 50mm.
