Container / Shutter Padlocks

Also known as block, straight shackle or warehouse padlocks, they are designed specifically for roller shutters but often used on warehouses and containers due to their high security design. The straight shackle design means it is technically classed as a "closed shackle" lock by insurance companies and is exceptionally difficult to get cutting tools to the actual shackle.

The idea behind them is that the straight shackle go through eyelets that are fitted to the shutter and then screwed into the floor. This way there is very little shackle on show making it difficult for attack with bolt croppers or angle grinders.

The body materials vary but the hardened steel 92 series by ABUS is CEN3 insurance rated so should satisfy requirments from your insurance company.

One of the main problems with shutter padlocks is that a number of them have the key entry on one side of the body, and the shackle extrusion on the other. If you're fitting your shutter padlock into a restricted space, then this is a factor you need to consider.

The 92 series by ABUS is the only one we stock where the key entry and shackle extrusion are on the same side of the padlock. See image below. If this is not an issue, then the 82 series (brass) or 82ti series (Titalium) will be absolutley fine.
